What are the locations and symptoms of uterine fibroids?

A woman may have one single fibroid or several fibroids. According to their locations on uterus, fibroids are classified as submucosal fibroids, intramural fibroids and subserous fibroids. Among them, intramural fibroids are most frequently seen, and then submucosal ones and subserous ones.

Types of fibroids

Most uterine fibroids are asymptomatic. The most common symptoms caused by fibroids are heavy menstrual bleeding, prolonged menstrual periods, pelvic pressure or pain, frequent urination, constipation, and backache or leg pain etc. There is a close relation with fibroid location and signs and symptoms. Submucosal fibroids are found with more symptoms, in even 20% of patients fertility can be affected.
